in the continuing saga with the American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue Trust, I decided to send them a letter stating my concerns.
When the topic of Cavaliers in the shelters came up this is a quote from Carol Williams a founding member and Trustee:
As to the Orange County Shelter... You surely must be very familiar with the ACKCS Rescue Trust Guide for Rescuers. Under the section entitled “:Financial and Legal Responsibilities”, it states..”Never purchase a Cavalier for the rescue program or assist others in purchasing a Cavalier to be placed in to the rescue program. The Trust does not purchase dogs for any reason.” You may want to talk to the shelter in Orange County about turning a Cavalier (or perhaps any purebred dog) over to a rescue organization. The majority of shelters will not. The reason? Because it is very easy for them to get homes for the pure breds and especially Cavaliers. I have personally spoken to several shelters that have this philosophy.
This is from an organization that wants our donations, yet is unwilling to really help the most needy of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels out there.
What I do know about this shelter from personally visiting it and bailing several Cavaliers out and talking to the staff is that they are overcrowded and very grateful for all the help that they receive.
Since I hate partial quotes, and did not want to bore readers with the full letter, feel free to email me dogslovemoe@aol.com if you would like a copy in it's entirety.

The problem with Cavaliers in general is too many catty people are involved. They think they know better than everyone else, and treat everyone else as the minions.
The rescue trust you noted is a joke, and one day they'll get what's coming to them.
Thankfully not all Cavalier owners (or rescues) operate in this fashion.
